Conscientious Serial Killer
You hear about a strange serial killer in the newspapers, on TV
and radio too. Everyone is talking about her. The only evidence is the dead
person, shot in the head, and found somewhere tied to a chair, and a cassette
tape in a protective plastic bag, stuffed into the mouth of the victim. The tape
contains exactly 60 seconds of the victim's pleading, explaining, and begging,
and then a gun shot. Any other attempts at speech are met by what sounds like a
hit to the face or head and a scream of pain. Some victims, in their last
minute, bravely, and calmly, listed assumed accomplishments, others just cried
and begged.
Now imagine yourself drugged and abducted. You awaken tied to a chair. You can
not move your arms or legs. The perpetrator is standing in front of you. In her
left hand is a gun and you are looking down the barrel. In her right hand is a
stopwatch. On a table next to her is a tape recorder. She tells you that you
have one minute to "Justify Your Existence." She pushes the button on the tape
recorder and then pushes the button on the stop watch, and looks you straight in
the eye, and asks "Why Is The World A Better Place Because You Exist?" then she
listens for what you have to say.
You begin to speak, and before the first word gets out, you cut it off. You
think for a few seconds about what you have read and heard in the news. People
have pleaded to care for their families, but others have stepped in to do that
after their deaths so that did not justify their existence, people have talked
about their social work and environmental work, but others have stepped in to do
that also, and some talked about their job and their possessions but none of
them were saved.
The killer is still looking into your eyes, and the longest minute, and the
shortest minute of your life is nearly past, and you have not said a word. In
this brief moment your life has passed before you, and you realize that you can
not "Justify Your Existence." You calmly look into the killer's eyes and say -
"I Live By The Grace Of God!"
You hear the watch stopped. The recorder has been stopped. Your heart is
thumping, you have difficulty breathing, you are expecting death. She says to
you that many have been given the chance to live but you are the first who was
honest. She cuts you partly loose allowing you to finish untying as she leaves.
"It is written: "As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before
me; every tongue will confess to God." So then, each of us will give an account
of himself to God." Romans 14:11,12
There is only one way to be blameless in the eyes of God and that is through
Jesus Christ. "he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but
because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by
the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our
Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs
having the hope of eternal life." Titus 3:5-7
Being a Christian is choosing to be reunited with our Creator through Jesus
Christ.
To know God we must pray through Jesus Christ, our Savior and redeemer.
Meaningful prayers:
Dear Lord, I am a sinner, please forgive me, teach me, and lead in your many
ways as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Dear Lord, I pray for your guidance, so that my path remains straight, so that
my faith remains true, and so that I serve not myself but you. In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Our Lord's time is near and now is the time to get that Bible and read beginning
with the New Testament. Sincerely seek the truth with openness and you will grow
spiritually and gain comfort in these troubling times. God's hand is held out
for us and all we need to do is grasp it; so praise God, for our Lord's blessing
and forgiveness for transgressions is ours. Take God's hand and walk in peace,
knowing always of your place which was promised. Pray always, confessing sin to
the Lord and to strengthen your relationship with God, study the Bible,
associate with others who love God in fellowship, and trust in the Lord's
promise of salvation through forgiveness.
Bible quotes are from the New International Version translation.
It is strongly suggested that you use also the King James Version translation
for study and verse/chapter comparison for better understanding. Bible students
do well using both together.
