My Last Day
What will you value most on your last day?
(A) Recreation and entertainment
(B) Toys, cars and homes
(C) Sex
(D) Money and power
(E) Eternal Life
If you chose "E" then you know that God created humans with the capacity of free
will, or the ability to choose God's way or our own way. When we choose to not
follow God we transgress against our creator and this is called sin. God always
wants good for us but sin causes us suffering.
In the Old Testament we learn how God provided a way for his creation (us) to
have a relationship with him although we continued to sin. God made promises to
Noah and then again to Abraham and his descendents concerning God's requirements
of people. These descendents were the Hebrew (Jewish) people. Among these people
were some who loved God as Noah and Abraham did. These faithful were given
revelation about God's desire for us and prophesy about the future. They wrote
this information and included the history of people God chose to work through.
This is the Old Testament of the Bible.
Many prophesies were about a Messiah or Christ who would end the hardship of the
people and reunite them with God. Jesus was born and fulfilled the prophetic
predictions and he taught a fulfilled covenant between God and humanity. Some of
the predictions included his crucifixion as a sacrificial bond between us and
God and his resurrection three days later from death, the first born to have
eternal life.
The New Testament is about Jesus the Christ, his teachings, miracles, the worlds
future and our blessed hope, eternal life with God who in Christ ended on the
cross all the sufferings caused by sin. We are created by God but to be God's
children we must go through Jesus and we must ask with a sincere desire. "Yet to
all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to
become children of God..." John (Chapter 1:12 NIV)
Being a Christian is choosing to be reunited with our Creator through Jesus
Christ.
To know God we must pray through Jesus Christ, our Savior and redeemer.
Meaningful prayers:
Dear Lord, I am a sinner, please forgive me, teach me, and lead in your many
ways as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Dear Lord, I pray for your guidance, so that my path remains straight, so that
my faith remains true, and so that I serve not myself but you. In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Our Lord's time is near and now is the time to get that Bible and read beginning
with the New Testament. Sincerely seek the truth with openness and you will grow
spiritually and gain comfort in these troubling times. God's hand is held out
for us and all we need to do is grasp it; so praise God, for our Lord's blessing
and forgiveness for transgressions is ours. Take God's hand and walk in peace,
knowing always of your place which was promised. Pray always, confessing sin to
the Lord and to strengthen your relationship with God, study the Bible,
associate with others who love God in fellowship, and trust in the Lord's
promise of salvation through forgiveness.
Bible quotes are from the New International Version translation. It is
strongly suggested that you use also the King James Version translation for
study and verse/chapter comparison for better understanding. Bible students do
well using both together.
